Dear Chief Moses Parents/Guardians:

We are looking forward to a great 2018/2019 school year here at Chief Moses Middle School. As we approach the beginning of the new school year, we’ve put together a few informational items, as well as some important dates for you.   The office is now open, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, please feel free to contact the front office/counseling office if you have any questions.

You may park in the front or back of the building.  Please enter Chief Moses through the front office area or cafeteria.

In the cafeteria, you will be able to review your student’s Skyward profile.  You will also be able to make any changes to your address, phone numbers, and we strongly encourage all families to ensure that an up to date email address is on file for your student, as many communications are done electronically with families.  Pictures will be taken at registration.  Everyone should have their picture taken as they are used for Skyward, identification cards and yearbook.  Picture-retakes will be September 10th.  Chief Moses Cafeteria staff will be available for you to pay for student lunches.

In the front office, you will be able to pay for your student’s ASB, purchase a yearbook, student Chromebook insurance, Brave Gear, PE Uniform, sign up for sports. We will have a bank of computers set up for your use in order to sign your student upon FamilyID (the online sports eligibility website); which is mandatory for all students participating in sports in the Moses Lake School District.    We accept cash, check, or debit card.

All Chief Moses students will be issued a Chromebook which you will be able to pick up in the Library during registration.  The Moses Lake School District is committed to integrating technology in the classroom to: Promote student engagement and enthusiasm for learning.  Please explore  www.commonsensemedia.org or www.netsmartz.org to learn more about privacy and internet safety, cyberbullying, screen time limits, learning with technology and many more issues facing your child today.

As with each year, we look at areas for improvement; one area we are wanting to work with parents on is the student pick up and drop off area at Chief Moses Middle School. All students that are being dropped off and picked up from school by family should use the parking lot located on the east side of the of the building and is labeled East Lot.  Please do not use the parking lot labeled West Lot.  If you are dropping or picking up your student on Nelson Road, please be aware of students & staff in the crosswalk area.

We are looking forward to a very productive and fun year for everyone.  It is our goal to create an environment where all students feel a sense of security and belonging.  We realize that a partnership between school and home is essential, so please do not hesitate to call (509)766-2661 if you have any questions or concerns.  See you soon and enjoy your last few weeks of summer break.

Kindest regards,
